Housing point/band system

I just wanted to know if I could get points to get on the housing register if I need to move closer to family members I care for on a daily basis.
I am the primary carer for both my parents, who suffer from life changing illnesses and living 10 miles away from them, it's become extremely difficult and physically/emotionally draining for me. I also have 3 kids, 5 and under. 2 are at school and I have to take care of them aswell so it's just getting tough for me and affecting my own health/wellbeing.

There are no general rules. You will have to look up housing policy in the area you want to move to.
I am in a similiar situation and I have noticed, probably because of social housing shortages, provision for carers to apply for housing have been removed in a lot of boroughs.0 -

Lol, I have two children with special needs, in emergency accommodation, have an 82 year old father in Essex (hour and a half travel time each way) who's wife has died, with Parkinsons and I am Band C (low need). I live in Gravesham. My father lives in Redbridge. I am not on Redbridge's Housing register at all. His council has no policy for housing for carers. Too many people in actual housing need already in the borough. I have a few threads about our housing situation.
I think the days when it was appreciated thousands could be saved a council if carers could live near someone who needed looking after are long long gone. Paying for such care doesn't come out of Housing budgets so they don't care.0 -

I've just had a look at the point allocations for Birmingham city council housing and they award 50 points if you need to move to support/look after family/relative. And you are also awarded 50 points for welfare/hardship u may be suffering living where you currently do.
I am also having a carers assessment tomorrow and I was told by the council that there social workers can liaise with the council and provide support for housing too if the carer can show the struggles they are facing.0 -
Have you tried to see if you can do a house swap?
There might be a page on your council's web site where you can register your house for an exchange.
There is also local pages if you have a facebook account that might be another avenue you could try.
Hope you get something sorted very soon.0 -
No such thing exists in my borough I'm afraid. But I really hope it works out for you.0
