Removals firm recommendations

I'm moving from central to North London next month and trying to select between Crispins, Bishop's Move and Twilleys for the full pack and move service with comprehensive insurance.

Does anybody have experience of these three firms to offer a (dis)/recommendation?

Thanks

No. To throw another in the mix, I've used Inline Removals several times and am happy to recommend. Packing and move.

We've used GB Liners twice for full pack and move, would have no hesitation using them again.

I'm hoping this doesn't sound like a stupid question, but when you say PACK and move, does this mean having someone come and pack everything up into boxes for you and then move? As opposed to packing your own stuff into boxes yourself before the movers arrive? If so, I'll be paying attention to this thread.

Only that of the four north London removal firms I contacted for a quote last month, Twilleys were the only ones who didn't get back to me. That didn't impress me! But they were recommended by others so they are probably not bad if you can get hold of them.

I'm not moving for another fortnight (pack and move too) so can't comment yet on whether the firm we're using are actually any good...

I've used https://www.rocketvan.co.uk before for a pack and move, very good company, really efficient and nice staff.

Yes that's what it means. Moving house is one of those occasions it really is better to have somebody else pack it for you, the cost difference really isn't worth saving.

As Slinky says, yup, it's like magic. They make it look so easy. I've used them to pack the last few moves. Did my own before that. Used to take weeks, and lots and lots of stress (not to mention wrapping materials!). Removal men are very generous with their packing and always have enough (unlike me). They know what they're doing. They even dismantled my bed and reassembled it.

I really don't see it as 'moneysaving' to do it yourself. It's such a stressful time, you shouldn't really pack until exchange, and it means living with boxes and stuff everywhere for days. I will ALWAYS get them to pack in the future.

Worth EVERY penny. They do it all the day before (usually)!

Yes, this is why I'm using a packing service for the first time for my upcoming move. It is extra money but if I did it myself I'd have to take time off work to do it and it would take me far longer than they are anticipating. They reckon two men can pack my two bed flat in 2-3 hours; I'm sure it would take me days but they know what they are doing! And they will bring the right packing materials along (I'm sure they get it much cheaper than I could) and take the furniture apart.

They are charging by the hour for this but I will be there working from home at the kitchen table so I will know they aren't taking any longer over it than they have to. I am sure it will be worth the money.
  • We moved in December and used Pickfords with their full packing service (we live in Hampshire),

100% recommend, we literally didn't pack anything, they turned up and did everything, they took all the nursery furniture and all the beds apart to get them down the stairs and even though i'm sure the website says they don't put furniture back together again they did all of it.

They do literally pack everything though, I had left an empty wine bottle (with a piece of chewing gum inside) by the back door to put in the bin and yes this was carefully packed and moved to the new house,..I'm just glad I managed to get the cat before she was also boxed up,

They even stopped to help the guys who came to move our hot tub for us,

I also have a feeling the guy who came out to do the quote underestimated how much stuff we had as they asked who had done the quote when they first turned up and saw what they had to move, however they never complained and when time was getting on another guy turned up to help to finish off,
  • We used Crispins when we moved. I thought they were good and quite a bit cheaper than the others that quoted. We used their pack and move service.

I asked for feedback on here, and then wrote about my experience afterwards. All went well!
