Olympus X-42 Point and Shoot camera

My usually reliable X-42 has a problem that I'm stumped with.

When I take a photo, the image on the camera screen looks like it's been taken through horizontal Venetian Blinds.

I've changed the memory card, and the batteries, but the results are still the same.

I don't overuse the camera, just take plenty of shots on holiday.

Any ideas please?

Just to confirm, what does the photo look like when you transfer it to a computer or TV screen?

Does this happen with and/or without flash?

I never thought about transferring the photos onto my PC.

Done it, and they look fine. Slightly annoyed though, as we were on Day 2 of 4 weeks DIY-ing around Nicaragua when the error started with the camera. I fiddled around loads of times with the settings, but the result was always the same, and I missed out on a lot of photos of a memorable holiday.:(

I'll live with the lousy way the images look on the camera screen, until someone asks me what I'd like for Xmas.:)
