You should get insurance that covers business.
It may be cheaper to cancel the policy and have a new one.
You must do this now (even paying on a card) and you may be able to claim the additional costs from your company
Have you thought about buying a small van- something like an Astra van?
They are more economicalbaldly going on...0 -
You'll be insured to drive around for work related to your business, you just won't be insured to drive if driving is your entire business such as being a taxi driver. Everyone has on their insurance certificate something about it. Not a big deal if you're just driving around dropping off a few tacky pens to a few places around town.0

Normal car insurance will only cover you for travelling to and from your (normal) place of work. It will not cover you for doing anything in relation to your or your employers business (even travelling to a meeting) unless you get Class 1 or 2 business cover added.0

Not necessarily.
It is perfectly possible to have insurance for social domestic and pleasure purposes only. If so then you are not covered for even commuting to a regular place of work.0 -
Privilege offer the cover free on their policies in case anyone is looking for business use insurance.
Like someone else mentioned, my employer won't pay expenses unless the insurance and MOT certificate have been shown to HR.0 -

often that will be ONE normal place of work have more than one you need business.
if you have a job and an ebay business(hobby) on the side taking stuff to post could need business.
on a committee? that's another place of work.0 -
I've never known a company offer to pay the extra insurance on private car but the mileage rate you get should cover the extra petrol/insurance/maintenance. If the employer is refusing to pay mileage then that's a different issue.
Years ago, using your own car on business was a nice little earner but the rate has only gone up a few pence a mile in the last 15 years.
Besides, many recruitment consultants, estate agents etc like to have company branded cars as they can use them as mobile advertising boards.0
