Intermittently faulty bathroom light

Anyone that could advise would be great
Just had a cloakroom downstairs toilet installed. Bathroom fitter +electrician put in a light similar to this (although not led)

As there is no window its nice and bright. However a couple of months ago we have been having problems with the light. It is connected to the extractor fan which also was installed at the same time.
It is intermittently not turning on at all. Pressing the light switch on is triggering the extractor fan speed to pick up as i can hear the fan speed increasing. However the light is not working. I have been out and replaced the bulb but no joy. I've taken the unit apart and checked for any loose connections and also checked behind the switch for any loose connections, and cannot see anything obvious. Its not working 99% of the time now with the odd day it will come on once but wont after its obviously been switched off and back on
Have called installer numerous times but they dont seem keen to sort it
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

Short of badgering the installer, or complaining to the relevant body, ie NICEIC, have you tried disconnecting the fan to see if this changes anything?0

Thanks have tried that but still nothing... Ill keep badgering.if I could fit a new one I would but I'd rather not as don't feel confident enoughEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. In your description you say the fan speeds up? How do you switch the fan off normally?0

It's a continuously running dmev extract fan although turning the light on increase s the fan speed,t turning it off decreases the fan speed back to its usual background running speed
It has an isolator so can be turned offEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.0 -
If the fan is a dmev and is operating properly when you switch the light switch then the issue can only be at the connection of the light itself. There has to be a point where the light switch live and neutral is connected to the fan switched live and neutral. This point is the only point it could fail otherwise it might be worth using a multimeter across the light live and neutral to completely eliminate the light itself being defective. Hope this helps.0
