Worst Bank accounts to open..so I can close them and switch!

Odd request, I know, but what bank accounts would you recommend to open for the sole purpose of switching them in a month or so to a new account that gives a hefty cashback reward? I don't want to open an account with Coop for example as I can switch to that account and get a decent amount. So what accounts rarely offer an incentive to switch?

Thanks

    Barclays?

    Natwest?
  • Well as there are only 4 banks offering a switch bonus at the moment, you have plenty of choice.

Afraid you are being the curve somewhat

I believe there are 5 banks plus a building society. :)
  • As far as I know, RBS/Nat West Group have never offered a switching incentive, and are unlikely to do so in the near future given their history/current ownership. Also, Barclays seems to think that cash incentives are beneath their rather posh image, so I suspect that they won't ever do them.

I will say RBS, Barclays, Natwest.
What happens if you push this button?
  • ... and I suspect I know the answer to this, but-

Are there any banks which offer a joining bonus, rather than a switching bonus? So ones where you can get some incentive just for signing up without switching an existing account? :)

They are probably working on the basis that most (adult) customers worth acquiring will have a current account to switch.

They usually give the freebies to under 18s or students.

The imutual sign up bonus for Santander still seems to be available.
