Give me strength, so you don't want the OP to use Hardibacker because the tiny amount of dust might just might contain Silica, but however you are quite happy for the the OP to use twice yes twice the amount of CEMENT (which prob will contain Silica) based addy in powder form needed to use homelux :rotfl::rotfl:
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

    It's another plus point

A sheet membrane with overlaps is far superior to a butt jointed board and you said it yourself you never tape and fill the joint. This straight away goes against there fitting procedures

The likes of the Homelux(cheapest) to the dura CI, (mid priced) to Impeys tile safe(dearest) all work in the same way. Sheet and overlap

Membranes are better priced, quicker to install, easier to install. You don't use Hardibacker on wet rooms so that says it all

Even cheaper again is Mapei gum, a £45 tub will do atleast 4 shower/ shower baths on a 3 coat system . I'd never use on a wet room but for tanking a shower or bath is more than ample

Cement topped foam boards such as wedi , marmox and jackoboard, I'd avoid these as well. There trays compress under load and its movement that kill tanking integrity

Each to there own but I only do jobs that have proven materials , if it isn't proven to last 20+ years then I'm not interested
