Don't know what the tax situation is but I did a 2nd job for about 2 yrs on top of doing a 40 hr week in my main job.
It was tiring but worth it.
One question I do have for you is does your main job employer allow you to have a 2nd job?0 -

Some employers state in your contract that you need permission, and some don't allow it at all. I think it would depend if they saw a conflict of interest between the two jobs. Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -
Many employers expect you to declare second employment, you would need to check your contract of employment to find out.
I took a job last year, and there was a requirement to declare. It didn't interfere with my work (I was merely doing a few mystery shops - meals at weekends) but the manager brought it up with me twice. She also had other unreasonable expectations, and I left the job. My new workplace is fine with the part time work, and I don't even think my direct manager knows about it.
As for tax implications, I think it will be fine. Your main employer will continue to tax you and take your NI contributions as usual. Your other employer I think will take 20% tax on all of your earnings, but I'm sure there's less NI to pay than if the two lots of earnings were combined.0 -

You pay less tax(NI) on a second job than adding the earnings to your first job.
That may still be less than doing the same hours in your normal job as overtime.0 -

Employers may also be concerned to keep an eye if you are working more than 48 hours a week because of the working time directive. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

As above, WTD. Our driving staff can't have a second job because if they did they could breach the 48 hour rule and it would be us the employer that gets into trouble.
If you only ever do 40 hours, it may not be an issue.0 -
In my contract it states I would not be allowed to work for a competitor within the same industry.0
