Another Dartford CPN

Made the crossing on 27 Aug one way, back a week later. My OH registered my car (which we were travelling in) into his account a few miles before reaching the tunnel. It showed fine (indeed recognised the make and model of car).

Today, I received a CPN for the onwards crossing. Logged into account, showed that we had been charged on the way back but not the way there. Clearly it registered the car when he did it on the way as we were then abroad and certainly didn't log in in between, so otherwise, it also wouldn't have registered the crossing on the way back either.

Can I challenge it or will they point me towards some small print that will justify that we were responsible to check (although they say that it can take up to 48 hours) or that it takes for an added vehicle to be added? I perused the terms and conditions and can't see anything beyond saying that once the account is opened, it becomes effective right away and any charges incurred will be automatically deducted.

It doesn't help that the car is a lease car, so the fine was sent to them which means I will also have to deal with the car dealership, grrrrrrrrr.

As we tend to major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for this. Register there and post a new thread; here's your link:

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received (both sides, if appropriate).

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Call them or use the complaints portal. Drivers report (so far) they listen and sort these out.
