Aged 16 Apprenticeship does Ex have to pay?

The order states payment shall end on the child reaching eighteen....etc....whichever is the laterIf she is doing an apprenticeship intending to go on to a permanent job in that field - one could argue the conditions for ending maintenance have been met.
so I would say the payments will continue until at least eighteen possibly later depending on the daughters choices thereafter.0 -
Just a suggestion - many people use the expression "tertiary education" to mean 16-19 (ie FE) not including Higher Education.0

You're right. I missed the later. So it then comes down to where the daughter is at 18. If she has a HE place waiting, maintenance continues. If she has gone from apprenticeship into work, maintenance ends. If she is still on the apprenticeship and wants to go on to HE, but has no firm offer - that's still woolly. May depend on whether the 16 months period is up i.e. was the daughter nearer 16 or nearer 17 when she left secondary education to start the apprenticeship.foolofbeans wrote: »The order states payment shall end on the child reaching eighteen....etc....whichever is the later

Good point. That's exactly what it is. There's nursery (or pre-school) first then primary, secondary and then tertiary education. Tertiary can be in a FE or 6th Form college or continuing in the secondary school if it has a 6th form.
To get on a favourite hobby horse, the non-compulsory parts (i.e. nursery and tertiary) are the ones where the government have made huge funding cuts. It's a bit illogical seeing as the school leaving age has effectively been raised but that's the way it is. Never mind, it'll all be sorted by introducing new grammar schools.;)0
