Are modern boilers getting physically smaller?

My combi boiler is in the kitchen as there's no where else it can really go. However, when I do come to replace it, it would really help me if the replacement was smaller.
Are the latest combi boilers smaller than they were? If not, could technology make them smaller in the coming years?

Well, mine was fitted in 2011 and I'm led to believe it's life span may be around 10 years. So I guess I'm saying are new and more compact boilers expected in the the next 3 to 5 years?0 -
Yes, they are getting smaller in the main. It will depend on the size of your house but it's possible to get one that fits in a kitchen cupboard now!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks Doozergirl. My house is a 2 bed end terrace, so I would hope a smaller one would be fine. I take it this is a combi boiler? Do you mean a standard kitchen cupboard? Is there a particular brand that I'd have to research that's making them more compact?0 -

Worcester Bosch do a compact range. It fits into a 600mm wide wall unit. The carpenter has to do a little bit of work to the unit so parts of it will lift off for servicing, but the kitchen design isn't compromised by it.
