Halifax / TSB - "free worldwide travel insurance"

I started looking at the Ultimate Reward Current Account from Halifax and the Platinum account from TSB. Both other "free" worldwide travel insurance.
One of the limitations is a maximum trip length of 45 days. I'm trying to clarify what happens if a trip ends up being longer than this, particularly if it is determined that the trip length is longer than 45 days, but I need to claim within 45 days. I ask this because of the wording:
So does this mean that if I go on a trip with a return flight of greater than 45 days, I am not covered for the initial 45 days?
I've tried to find more on their website but not able to, any help appreciated!

There is no cover for trips over 45 days in duration unless you have
purchased the trip extension to provide cover for longer trips. Your
upgrade schedule will show if you purchased this option.

Yes you are not covered at all, even for the initial 45 days. If you had a confirmed reservation back to the UK in, say, 60 days then that would be proof your trip is longer that 45 days and they would not cover you at all. If you had an 'open' return then you could cut your 60 day trip short if you fell ill after say 40 days and claim. In all claim situations, you have to provide proof of outward and inbound flights so they can see it is 45 days or under.
That said, I think you can extend the 45 days for a particular trip by calling them and paying a small premium.0 -
Thanks, that rules it out for me then!0
