Paid parking fee to wrong operator

On the 30th of June I parked in a Napier car park in Milton Keynes station and paid by phone to Ringo at the metre directly behind my car. i didn't realise I had paid the wrong parking operator until I returned to my car to find a parking ticket. I had never parked in this area before so was unaware of multi parking operators. When I returned home I wrote a letter of appeal,a lengthy one, explaining how long it took to park and enclosed proof or my paying Rngo. A month later I had a reply from Napier with no mention of rejecting this appeal just a threat to take me to court, When I received this I thought it was some pro rata reply and my appeal was being considered now another letter demanding £50 or court proceedings will be taken. I know that Ringo collect money for Napier in other car parks, as I have looked at their methods on line, so why couldn't they claim what I'd paid in error?

There is another recent thread on here about Napier and despite their aggressive threats, it appears since 2014 they have only 2 court hearings.

If it does go to court which is doubtful, you have good story to tell a judge.
There is starting to be a turnaround with parking companies as they are failing in court and it must be clear to the courts that many parking cases are flawed and this is seriously wasting the court's time.
Parking companies are realising that winning is not as easy for them as it once was. They are running the gauntlet with stupid claims.
What to do? ..... see what others say on here, I would say wait0 -
You need to get photos of all the signs in that car park and their location within it.
If you accidentally paid the wrong operator then that raises serious questions about signage.
Naaaapier may take you to court, despite what Beamerguy says above, (there seems to have been a recent upsurge in court cases since the Beavis case) so get yourself prepared.
As they are now an IPC outfit, there was no real prospect of you winning an "independent" IAS appeal, but that option is no longer there anyway.0 -

You've appealed so we would suggest sit tight. DO NOT TRY IAS.
IF YOU GET A COURT CLAIM (RARE) COME BACK, DON'T PANIC.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Common problem in Milton Keynes. Signs are all very prominent, I am afraid. Problem is that often the two different paying stations are close to each other. If it had been the other way round, the Council would probably have cancelled.
Your first post suggesting that Ringo sorts it out is a bit naive. If you went into one shop to buy something but paid another shop with your Barclaycard, would you expect Barclaycard to sort it out?
Keep evidence of paying (to show you are a good guy) and wait for things to unfold, unless you feel that you want to contact Na****r again.0
