O/S Daily Friday 9th September 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit. DS1 is taking my car to work this morning, so I can take his to the garage for service and MOT, I will then use the courtesy car for the day - I only want to do my food shopping, but it just makes things easier if I have a car.
Dinner last night was quiche, jacket potatoes with either tuna mayo or beans and cheese, side salad, I also made a roasted med veg tart, coleslaw etc, there's 2 good slices of tart left and I cooked an apple strudel for dessert that no-one wanted, so that's dessert for tonight sorted. I'm intending making lasagne later and wills serve that tonight with chips for the menfolk, salad with mine.
Yesterday I wasn't very productive at all, just couldn't get myself going at all, so all I did was visit the bank and building society, and get a few bits from L**l that I should really have done without, but just can't be bothered with the moaning and groaning, there's no meat/not enough meat ...... I did get the washing done up to date, I may strip the beds today but I must do the ironing, do the food shopping and do some cooking/baking - so only 3 things really will really try and motivate myself to get these done.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Had a good chat to the volunteer organiser at hospice, she realises things are difficult and no-one is very happy, hopefully it will improve so I'll carry on for now, I have to remember that I'm there for the users but would like something to do!
Not surprisingly it's raining again but it wont spoil my mood, I'm off to London after work for the weekend, going to see Billy Joel tomorrow so hope the weather clears (it's to rain there too!).
Hope you all have a happy Friday and a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks for starting off NMLC. The dark mornings are creeping up on us gradually and I don't like it!
The DGDs are all still asleep but I'll have a few minutes more peace before I wake them up I think. Just been making up the packed lunches for eldest and middle one. I was too weary to think about it last night once we had got them all to bed.
Once they have gone to school the Friday clean around is on the cards for today. The weather looks a bit iffy but no plans on going out so no matter what it decides to do. Went to Aldi yesterday in torrential rain and when we came out it was like summer with blue sky and sunshine.
Our surgery rang late afternoon to say Mr TA's blood tests (which had been marked priority) were back and they were going to fax them to his consultant in Leeds. Maybe today he will ring us back so I'm still worrying what he will have to say.
Have a good day folks and (((HUGS))) to all wanting/needing them. This forum is a sad place to be for a lot of us just now. Take care all and enjoy your day if you can xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning, I wasn't about yesterday as had an early start and a late finish. Today I have one task to do on behalf of a colleague who is on holiday (inner b*tch alert, she mostly is, either on an extended holiday or sick). Then some paperwork and if I can just get this finished over the weekend, I'll be taking a few days off since last time off was a bit if a failure.
Rain overnight, looks to be brightening up now,
Back to the 4 am waking could do without that as am tired now. Hope everyone is as ok as possible, given that I know so many of us have difficult things going on.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone.
Yes, TA, the light is taking longer to reach us in the morning and arriving earlier in the evening. Clocks will go back soon too. Fingers are crossed for MrTA's results.
Camelot - have a lovely time in London, Billy Joel will be great.
Yesterday was fine despite the persistent heavy drizzle. Turned out that the woman I thought I was taking to the local hospital was her and her husband. They were delightful and good company. The rest of the day was filled with inconsequential activities which added nothing to anything except my well being.
Today may well be the same.
Have a good Friday everyone.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for starting the thread NMLC.
Hugs to all those in need.
Flying visit from me, I didn't get to bed 'til gone midnight as loads of decisions needed making.
I have an assortment of DGD's to juggle from 2o'clock this afternoon until 4o'clock Saturday.
Hubby will either be viewing a property or working depending on how things go.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
Bit overcast here this morning I think we are due some rain, which would be nice as it would then be quiet at work, we are very short staffed today and Im not sure we will even get a full lunch break, might just get time to get a quick sandwich! roll on tonight !
Takeaway and wine tonight or we may stroll up to the pub and have a meal there, will see how we feel and if its raining !
Need to do a wash tonight, dd is selling all her superdry clothing on ebay and doing very well, we are slowly washing them ready to send.
Right better dash have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It was raining when i got up but the sun is trying to shine now so hopefully it will stay dry today. Hubby has left for work and then he has his pre op appointment this afternoon at the hospital. The girls are flitting about getting ready for school and I have just had a shower and got dressed so I am counting that as a win.
My sister is coming to see me this morning so I will have a quick tidy round in the living room. DD16 forgot to put the dishwasher on yesterday so that is running now with it's first load. I have washing to do later as well but we are low on electricity so I will be popping to the post office later to charge the key up.
I am cooking sausages, mash and beans for tea, proper comfort food as we are all tired after a first week at school and getting back into a routine after having the summer off.
Fingers crossed that Mr TA's blood results come back ok.
Hugs for LaineyT, hope your mum is feeling a bit better x
I love Billy Joel, have a lovely time Camelot x
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good Morning chums and <<, hugs for those who are in need today >>> Indeed there are a few who are in need of some support on here bless them.We are all thinking of you and sending out peaceful vibes. xx
Just checked my accounts and the holiday firm has refunded my security deposit as they promised so that's been tucked away safely into my savings account.
this morning I have to go and get my hair trimmed as its getting very messy.I have to go around every six weeks or so as its very fast growing since I had chemo 8 years ago, also very thick.I have done my morning mile first thing and feel quite refreshed, the leaves are turning already and it will soon be autumn, but its not at all cold although rain is expected later which will do the gardens well as they are looking a bit parched at the moment.
I am freezer diving for dinner tonight I am sure I have some fish in there which I rather fancy with some mixed veg and maybe a little bit of mash, all from the freezerI am determined to eat the freezer down so I can defrost it and replace the drawers with the new ones I bought earlier this year. They are sitting in my spare room still wrapped in plastic
:):)So my mission for the next month or so is to get some sort of order into the freezer again .lots of stuff I have frozen isn't labeled so it will be an ...interesting menu at least.
Take care everyone and have a good day

Thinking of you Lainey x
Great news MrsLurcherwalker :T
So angry with this strange woman at the moment. A while back we walked towards her and Scampi kicked off, so I told her we're at fault, she should carry on the way she was going and we'll move out of her way. I crossed the road and walked away, she scurries over trying to talk to the dog, he throws a tantrum and she's asking if it's her fault. I said 'well it wasn't, but it is now!' and she carries on trying to make friends with Scampi. I had to tell her to go away. Yesterday she walked past the house while were in the front garden and screeches 'ooooh my baaaayyyyybbbeeeee' and steps onto the drive. I told her not to come near Scampi, who is trying his best but I could see his self-control is about to disappear. She carries on walking down the drive, he kicks off and I tell her to get out of my garden. And I wasn't polite about it. She says 'oh OK, bye' and toddles off! I just stood there and said '!!!!!! was that?' to no-one in particular. Scampi was a bit confused by the whole thing too I think, when she'd gone he calmed down and just looked me, not knowing what to do next. I asked him if he wanted a bonio and he headed for the front door, tail wagging awayBut he was jumpy all day, clung to me like a limpet, even when I went to the loo he pressed himself up against the bathroom door, waiting for me to come back out *sigh*
So I didn't get much done yesterday. I'm playing catch up today, two loads of washing, tidying, vacuuming and dusting. I have some paperwork to do, I want to get it out of the way early but will wait an hour or so, my brain isn't in gear yet

Morning all,
DH had a call yesterday to say he didn't get the job. He interviewed for a year contract role but there were also two permanent roles. Basically there are three people out there who are better and it sucks, he actually said to me he wants to climb into a hole and never get out. I am so worried about him. He went to run scouts last night so I phoned his parents, they have said they would keep us afloat but it's almost more about the emotional support now. They are coming this afternoon to visit.
Meanwhile I have a split shift at the church today, setting up and running messy church. Not sure how many we will get as its the first week back and lots will be tired I'm sure. I would be happy with less children tbh as I'm not in the best place right now to be painting on a smile
TA - hugs, it's not nice waiting for results xx
Lainey - hope mum is comfortable
(((Hugs))) to anyone I've missed xxx
