if your son is under 18 he does not pay council tax.

Also some apprentices do not pay council tax.

Have you checked of this applies to him. https://www.gov.uk/council-tax/who-has-to-pay

If he is working at least 16 hours a week, as he is receipt of DLA, he may be entitled to WTC.

my son gets the same amount of DLA as your son and receives £153 per month WTC on his salary of £14K - so your son should receive a fair bit more - when my son was on an apprenticeship HE received £507 per month

the fact is here that your SON needs to claim WTC and contribute to the household expenses as my own son did

OP son could get approx £95 per week.

£150 per month on gas/electric is INSANE. I had no gas in a house of two and my electricity was never over £60. Are you paying arrears? £150 is crazy!

Why do you have two water bills?

That's not normal for a house of two people! There's your food money right there!

That does sound very high, because I live in Kent, and my dual gas/ekectric with Eon is £65 per month, and we are a couple in a semi.
