Money from car passengers?

HMRC do allow about 40/45p per mile for travelling cost, but this includes all the overheads of running a car. IMO the passenger should only be contributing the fuel costs. Where I work we get 40.9p per mile, but the actual petrol element is only 14.4p per mile - if it's a 30 mile round trip, the petrol cost is about £4 per day - divided by 2 is approximately £2 a day.
I'd suggest she asks for a couple of quid each day, stick it in a spare change box in the car, and she's got money for parking whenever she needs it.0
