Just a word of warning.
Always had home emergency cover for last 20 years, due to disability.

When renewing was told I was covered up to £1000 perclaim. Huge list given off what's covered down too & including the toilet cistern button. In my naivety, I went ahead & took out the additional cover.

Following a boiler leak recently, was told in reality only 2hrs of labour's included, with £100 materials!!!. A bill of £270 to fix if I wanted to go ahead, more than my actual home insurance cost!!

So confused as to how the full £1000 would ever be claimed, unless someone's earning £450 p/h??.

You'd think being an MSE member for yonks, I'd have more sense than to not question things a bit more, can only blame the brain fog:(

So annoyed at myself, especially as I'm not working & saving money was my contribution to my family :(
No one said it was gonna be easy!

Which company provides your home emergency cover (not usually the same as your home insurance company - it's normally subcontracted out)?

We have a £500 claim limit and have had three claims in a year (!!) - having never had one before - and all three things have been fully covered, including a boiler repair that, with parts, came to very nearly £500.

Our home insurance is with Nationwide and the home emergency provider is DAS.

If your home insurer publish the full policy wording online we can take a look and see exactly what it says about your cover. You may have grounds to complain if the policy wording says £1,000 but they wouldn't then cover that much.

This has always been the case for me in the past. Was told £500 per job end off.
Its with Arag as part of Grove & Dean insurers. Meant to be well respected.
Am going to get the paperwork together, thank you pinkteapot x
