How does a record of numerous short term jobs give someone the edge?
If you're going to have a career, progress beyond minimum wage, you need to be reliable. Flitting between jobs, running at the first sign of challenge, is not an attractive attribute in an employee.0 -

I agree in some parts OP.
The consequences of being unhappy or in an unsuitable job when your confidence declines is the worst thing ever. No money can seldomly save that if you are so unlucky. A lot of companies just can't keep good staff I don't think they are bad employers they just get stuck with those who ultimately shape their company culture as much as just another bad boss. I felt quite sorry for the HR lady as she thanked me for being on good behaviour and just putting my head down.
Also I've come to realise as silly as it sounds the place you live can play a part - here in the poor Suffolk people are a little peculiar you get 30 minutes up road to a more affluent Suffolk area it's like somewhere else.

It is your personal opinion that companies cannot keep good staff. No company gets "stuck" with employees or managers that they don't want. It may be comforting to think that companies can't keep good staff when one is, perhaps, never kept. But that doesn't make one good, it makes one delusional.
And I am deeply concerned, if I am understanding your post correctly - which is, admittedly, often hard to do - that you consider people who are poor in Suffolk, "peculiar", and affluent people normal. Personal wealth is not an indicator of mental stability or normality.
And it really depends on what you think an "edge" is. Many other people, and an awful lot of employers, consider having many jobs a sign of flightiness, incompetence, or some other problem.0 -

My staff generally stay for years, often decades and our sector can see a high turnover off staff. Of the last five that left, four retired and one was a new start that we got rid of cos he was a twonk. You do actually need to go to the town on the delivery note rather than a ny town beginning with the same letter....... So I disagree with keepcalm, good staff stay if they feel they have a good firm to work for.0
