Help with figures
Hi
I have recently ran i check on compare the meerkat and it says i can save : £351 per year !
That is switching to Sainsbury's Energy - Price Promise September 2017
Electric
Unit rate 11.823p per kWh
Standing charge 33.60p per day
Gas
Unit rate 1.607p per kWh
Standing charge 33.60p per day
I am currently on :
EDF Energy Blue + Price Promise Feb 2017
Gas
Unit Rate : £2.090p Per Kwh
Standing charge : £26.25 per day
Electric
Unit Rate : £11.23p Per KWh
Standing Charge £18.90 per day
We use with EDF per year
28,411 Gas (EDF estimate £836.08 VAT Inc
6,455 Electric (EDF Estimate £848.96 VAT inc
Now when i do the same calculations on here it says :
WE will only save £33.00 year !
That's with SE Price Promise September 2017 the same one !
Now when i did compare the meerkat in the past it said saving £300 per year, i accepted and when the first DD came through it was exactly the same as i was paying now. Even though this changes as the year goes by when i submit readings. I cancelled the switch because of this.
Something isn't right what am i missing anyone ?

Yes, you are missing the bit where Compare The Market use the EDF standard rate tariffs for the period from February up to September 2017 (as your current fixed tariff ends in February). This is the standard OFGEM approved way to calculate costs on comparison sites.
Lesson here is to never look at the savings but to look at the total costs.0 -
