You have my sympathy! A gaggle of girls on a sleepover you're in for a busy and loud time. Don't be too adventurous with your craft, how about decorating rich tea biscuits or fairy cakes (bought or made). How do you feel about a mini pamper party, nail varnish.
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.

When I did a sleepover for my dd one year I bought them all cheap matching nighties from primark that they could wear (instead of party bags) however I would make sure the girls would all be roughly the same size , As you don't want any to feel different in any way if you see what I mean. I might be a bit over sensitive here :)

Plenty of DVDs and junk food and don't expect too much sleep , good luck :D

My kids are teenagers, my experience of sleepovers over the years from the time they started having them is the word 'sleep' shouldn't be in it! Justsayin;)

The kids will entertain themselves, you don't need to do an 'activity' with them (unless you really, really want to)

We have bought little money boxes from baker Ross before. We bought pens to use too. There are actually lots of things on their site. We have made individual pizzas and decorated cupcakes.

I like to have things for them to do. We have done an activity, make your pizza, decorate cakes, eat pizza and cake, watch film (with popcorn), then off to bed. Quiet down around 10:30.

  • I had a sleep over for my daughter's 9th birthday she had a friends over although by the screaming and screeching that went on it sounded like 30! We did -
    Make your own pizza
Play on trampoline and just dance on x box
Make your own ice cream sundae
    More screeching and running about
Then they put their pyjamas on and we did face masks and cucumber slices on their eyes which they really enjoyed (there are zoella recipie you can make yourself)
Then they painted each others nails and for nails.
We then watched a movie with some crisps and sweets and strawberries. I had loads of bottles on water in kitchen so they could help themselves to as many as they needed allnight with no spillage (had lemonade with pizza).
About a third of the way through the film we paused it and got the bedding out and brushed teeth. I went to bed at 11 and told them lighrs off. I learnt with my older son unless you tell them some of them would never go to sleep!
The girls had a great time. They entertained themselves the majority of the time. I got 2 movies for them to pick from - grease and mama mis. They picked grease and loved it!
Me debt free thanks to MSE :T
  • Thanks everyone! Maybe I was overcomplicating things a tad.

What I think I will go with is decorating plain pillow cases (the making of shift dresses sounds far too complicated!) with fabric pens and they can take them home with them.

I might even even some iron on transfer for them (obviously I will do this bit) unless anyone can tell me of a simpler thing that is out there that will stick to fabrics?

Then dinner, movie, junk food and (maybe) a board game before bed (or giggling).

Party bags will have their pillow they have decorated, slippers (if I can find them cheap enough), a toothbrush (just in case they forget theirs) and a night time story book.

And I will make it clear on the invite that the pickup time is 10am the next day!

I was going to suggest design a t shirt with fabric pens but like the idea of pillowcases.
  • As with someone upthread, I was going to suggest Baker Ross. My 4 and 2yo have loved doing their foam craft kits, and I took some around to a friend's house once - the friend's older sisters (8 and 10) enjoyed doing them too. And they have kits suitable for older kits on the website.

  • I love baker Ross! Not sure if heard of it before this thread, but it looks amazing!

I'm going to get a few bits for the party bags from them and also I like the charm bracelet kits. My 8yr old is really into owls, but as the party is right near Halloween, will get halloweeny style ones.
