If the Judge thought that MIL's conduct was unreasonable, why he he/she award such a pittance?

You cannot deal with one of these in under two hours, then there is postage, photocopying etc., not to mention mileage.

I very much suspect that Mr S is out of pocket. Perhaps he should send MIL an invoice for the shortfall.

How about going for whoever took the ppc on that lead to this for a refund/expenses/costs claim?

""MIL are not known for paying court claims in good time, and as a result, Mr S will be assigning this to a company for collection. This company has issued proceedings against MIL for £102.67 this week, and hopes to add this £119 plus interest and costs to the sum that takes MIL over the
    threshold of a Statutory Demand."":rotfl:

Yes, I read that, but my point is, why did not the judge act on his own bat. He/she has carte blanch under CPR27.14.(2)(g) to make costs awards against unreasonable behaviour, why should Mr S have to do the court's work for it?
