Additional Tesco Credit Card

Good morning,

I'm looking to see if anyone has been successful in gaining a 2nd credit card from Tesco whilst holding a Tesco foundation card.

I've held a aqua card for over 12 months worth a credit limit of 2.5k - I always use it and pay it off in full. Just this month I couldn't as I required money for a emergency matter but still paid a lot more than the minimum. Although the interest for one month isn't to horrific as I intend to clear the card of next month.

Now I'm thinking about cancelling my aqua card and applying for a main stream card and Tesco's low Apr cars seem like a good starting point but I'm concerned that my past defaults may not put me in the best light and that I've only held my foundation card for 4 months which I pay off in full on every statement.

Any thoughts?

Regards,

  • Usually what happens is they reduce your limits on existing card then issue this limit to the new card
  • Thanks for the reply. I probably hold back until i get a credit limit increase as my current credit limit is low with Tesco's

Have you tired doing a quotation search on ASDA money card I believe they take less than perfect history, or Nationwide, both are soft searches so won't effect your credit rating.
  • Hi thanks for your message.

Did the Asda check and came back with saying i'm not eligible. Nationwide is someone who i bank with and although its giving me quotations of up to £3500 the APR is on the higher side which will more than likely mean a decline.

I had a quote come back at £1900 @19.9% it I was approved, having being quoted a high rate doesn't always mean decline.
  • Hey send you a pm would like to get an idea about your history if possible.
