court summons for speeding

Hi all
my OH got a speeding ticket near her parents a while back, whilst we were in limbo having moved. Sent the letter of acknowledgement back then got the fixed penalty notice form. Unfortunately it was accidentally thrown away and despite calling to explain she got a court summons with the charge of speeding and asked to submit a plea.
Now she never denied the charge and always intended on paying. What do the options mean in the long term? I anticipate a points and a fine but beyond that? Does it mean a record? will it affect credit rating etc? Any help much appreciated.

She should plead guilty and enclose a covering letter.
The summons will detail what the maximum penalty is for her offence.
This is classed as a minor offence, will not affect her credit rating. It will need to be declared, but one offence is unlikely to affect her insurance premium.
You and OP should change address on your license, V5 and insurance.whilst we were in limbo having moved"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
