Can't connect to this network (Win10)

The joys of Win10 continue!
Because of decorating work, I have moved my computer to another bedroom at the back of the house. My router is downstairs so I cannot use an ethernet cable.
All was well and good until yesterday when it started cutting out intermittently.
Today, I can't connect at all. I have done a search online, and have followed all the advice I can find on Youtube and MS to update drivers (rom my hard drive), uninstall and reinstall wifi adapters, and run some commands through command prompt.
Nothing has worked. I have had so many attempts that I now know my Virgin password without having to look it up!
Could my problems be due to being further away from my hub (although my Macbook Air laptop and my smart phone connect OK in this room)?
I check the properties, and the network adapters have a message saying they are working OK.
Anything else I can try?

"Forget" the netowrk and re-add it ?
Restart the router ?
You best option may be the homeplug solution ..

(Link is for demonstration purposes only - better prices / different units will be available)0 -

I followed an instruction to 'forget'. It did not say how to re-add it, although I have tried to connect and number of times and put my password in.
Is there a way to re-add it?
It's current position is only temporary, so I don't want to buy more hardware unless I have to.0 -
Also, I know that on my Virgin system, I have 2G and 5G. It usually connects to 2G (and this shows up on my list), but I don't know how to try 5G. Is there a way to do this?
I've just tried diagnostics again, and get a message saying:
'You have not chosen to connect to any of the available wireless networks.'
But I have tried, many times, with my password!0 -

I'm going to try turning the router off. It takes a good few minutes to start up again, so I'll see what happens then.0 -

That would be the first thing i would do, and will most likely work.
Router off for a good 10 minutes, pc too.
Fire up the router, give it 10 minutes and then start up the PC and try to connect in the normal way.
Let us know how you get on0 -

Tried this and it is now working.
I suspect the problem may be due to being further away from the router as it takes much longer to load pages, but hopefully this should improve when I move the PC back to its usual position.0
