Cancelling a DD on my account that's paying someone else's policy?
Awkward situation - GF's father persuaded GF to 'temporarily' allow his car insurance to be taken by DD from her bank account. Guess what, 8 months down the line, it's still coming out, and it's made her go overdrawn two months in a row, meaning I have had to pay it to bail her out. He has been asked politely to rearrange his payments and it is not happening. This weekend, I need to take action, and I intend to assist my GF in cancelling the DD using her online banking. Any possible repercussions to her? The insurance is in his name.

On you can say how he'll react.0 -
Cancelling a direct debit for another persons insurance from her account will not make a jot of difference to her bar the fallout with him, I would stand firm on this and say that he has had enough time to sort it out and he is a grown man that can deal with his own issues.0

I think this should come from her, not the OP, but I agree with what you are saying.0 -

That's as maybe about the politics side but my post is geared up towards an answer for the actual question as to getting any issues of which are only on the fathers side and none for cancelling said DD iteself.0 -
There will be no repercussions for her, but in fairness she needs to tell dad, as this could have severe repercussions for him if he ends up with a cancelled insurance policy on his record due to defaulting over payment0

Money and family, just keep paying it for this year and decide whether its worth falling out with the Dad. Do cancel the direct debit though once the last payment has come out.0

And in the meantime she lives in poverty? She's been bailed out twice now so obviously can't afford it.
Cancel the DD op, she can text her dad to say he needs to arrange payments with his insurer. Job done. He's already taken liberties so any fallout is his own doing0
