Could someone give me some advice on renewing car insurance as I'm looking to buy a different car but my current insurance don't run out until 15/10/2016. I know I can change the insurance over to the new car but it's going to cost £30 +. When I receive my insurance renewal with my no claims bonus can I insure the new car or do I need to wait until the old insurance runs out.

Your NCB wont be avaliable to use on the new policy until the old policy runs out.
I'd think it's something they could pick up on.
I was in a similar position recently, I just bit the bullet and paid the fees to change over.0 -
If you want to be covered before renewal your options are;
Insure with your current insurers, unless the difference in annual premium is more than £50 for the new car.
If its more than £50 difference and you have maximum NCB, cancel current policy when you want cover on the new vehicle - assuming you will not require cover on your old vehicle. You may have to pay the cancellation fee but this should be £25-£30 depending on the insurer.0 -
I have nine years NCB. I haven't phoned my insurance yet to find out what it will cost to change my policy as I don't know what car I'm buying. If I want to cancel my policy it's £50.0

Well find out what car your buying and run a couple of quotes through compare the meerkats and phone your insurers.
You should be able to find out if its worth cancelling early to sticking with your current insurers.0 -

it is worth giving your insurance company a ring, this time last year I bought a replacement car and Aviva changed the cover from my old car to the new one for free, as my policy ran out on the 1st october.
The new and old cars were of similar insurance groups, both 2 litre diesels so maybe that helped. This way the policy carries on running so the full years NCB is added and it gave me time to shop around at renewal for a better price. I did trade my old car in so only had cover for 1 car, so this won't work if you are planning on keeping your current car.0 -
I've had a quote to change my insurance over and they wanted £87 for the month but what I didn't like was when I asked how quick the insurance would show online they said it could take 3 weeks so this would mean I wouldn't be able to tax the car the same day.0
