This is my first post ! I am a newbie saver having made £100k on a property quite recently and sensibly investing it straight away in an online savings account...though I am alarmed to find first direct on the 'losers' list on this site! Its making me nearly £100 pw after tax..I assume tax is already taken out and I dont have to pay it at the end of the year! -any advice???
I have also been a bit rattled by Martin himself on GMTV this morning alluding to people 'maybe sharing their savings over more than one account so as to ensure they are protected (limit of £35k per account) by the finanicial services protection/compensation fund.....do I need to move my money around?
If I have 100k and will weant to put it all into property within the next 4 months, what is my best choice? ICICI seem good, I cannot seem to get a quote fromm anyone who has spoken to me from any bac=nk re; how much interest I will get which would help me to make my mind up about changing my account....so all you experienced savers/finance bods out there, can you assist me, I failed my maths o level all those years ago and am increasingly perplexed...would actually rather have it all under the mattress like my granny did.
