I.T Job offer, low paid?

Please help - I'm looking for a second opinion here. Just been offered a job which is titled as an I.T Administrator assistant type role. Obviously, the pay is in line with a job that has "Administrator" in it's title. Just under 22k.
Day to day it is quite administrative, so I've been told. Fine, but my concern here is there are a few competencies that I think will go well beyond administrator, namely re configuring the cloud-base software that the company uses of which the manager is very enthusiastic that I do when I get up to speed. I myself come from a software implementation background (just over half a year) and my previous role paid 21k.
Any thoughts on this. If yes, any suggestions on how to respond to the job offer without souring the grapes.

If the salary is within a range 22k-25k then you can request for more. I work in IT and these companies want an individual with a list of abilities but only willing to pay no more than 22k-25k.0

Are you currently in a job, and does that job pay more? Do you currently have a better offer?
As far as I can see, you have a six month background in some software implementation. Sorry, but you and half the planet! Six months is not much. And your previous role may have been £21k (for the six months) - the operational word here is "previous".
Unless I am missing something obvious here, you have little experience and nothing better being offered. So the thing to do is get in that door before it slams in your face, then discuss pay when you have proved your worth and they are desperate to keep you from leaving for a better offer.0 -
For an IT Admin assistant role it doesn't sound like bad money. If your prospective boss is keen for you to get more involved, I would grab it with both hands. Do the extras they are looking at well and it will stand you in good stead further along the line. Don't just look at the very short term.0

Admin is poorly paid and tends to be better paid if there is a word in front of it, eg Transport Administrator, Health and Safety Administator etc.
If you're not currently working or are earning less, I'd take the job, gain more experience and keep updating your skills in order to move onwards and upwards0 -
There's a lot of talking up of the sort of salaries paid for IT anyway. Yes some people get good wages. A lot of others don't. I know a lot of IT staff on much less than £22k. And even more admin assistants on less.
But I also know of people with Administrator in their job title that get way , way , more. Don't assume than administration means low paid. Or that IT means high paid0 -
Was there a figure before you applied/interviewed.
Could you propose the opportunity for a rise at 6 months? Might be a way forward I know recently I'd gone for a role (whilst not so related) that had a top end offering of 18k - offer made at 16.5k with rise in 6 months to 17k as starters.0 -

IT is a bit of an exception to this. I'm a Database Administrator which is one of the better paid IT jobs. Server Administrators are also well paid.
However for the job described in the OP I'd say the salary is about right. It's not really a proper IT job but it does sound like a good way to get your foot in the door if that's the area you want to head into.0 -
no offense but 6 months is not a background.0

If the six months is your sum experience in IT then that's a fair salary. It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

If you refuse the job do you think that they will struggle to find someone who can competently fill it for 22K?
If the answer is "no" then the salary isn't too low.0
