Hi
My old tv has finally packed up. Looking to buy a new one. Can anyone recommend, price £200/£400. Can you just buy it and plug in and go or do you have to have it installed? and how much approximately to you have to pay? I am a complete novice at this. Any replies will be welcome. Thanks

Maybe your first port of call could be Richer Sounds website.
All modern TVs are pretty much plug in and a few easy steps to set up (automatically), providing you don't want to connect loads of peripheral bits of equipment.

6 years with Richer Sounds if you join their VIP club before buying. They also have a better selection in the OPs price range than JL. But nowt wrong with JL if they have what you want at the right price!0 -
Depends what you're after, what size you're looking for, how many hdmi ports you're likely to need, etc, etc. There are usually some good deals posted on the hotukdeals website http://www.hotukdeals.com/audiovisual/deals/hot
These look like good deals for Panasonic TV's in the Tesco clearance section too:

There are plenty other deals on there too. If you see one you like do a google search on the model number and compare the prices elsewhere under the shopping tab. Remember topcashback or quidco regardless of where you buy it and to do a google search for discount codes too.
Best to stick with good known brands like Panasonic, Sony or LG. Sharp is still good too, I bought a 40 inch Sharp TV on Tesco earlier this year which was on sale for £179 and the picture is fantastic. Best to avoid stuff like Technika, Bush and other makes you've never heard of.0 -
Another vote for Richer Sounds.
If there's a store near you, it's worth a visit. Their staff IME know what they're talking about. Installation is easy if you can plug in the aerial cable and any other devices you have (set-top box, PVR etc.). If it's a smart TV, you will want an internet connection - many support wireless, but if a cable is readily available, that can be easier and give better results.
I went to my local store, decided what I wanted, asked about delivery and the salesman recommended I buy it off their website as I'd get free delivery. Presumably he lost any commission he was on, but I did as he said!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
