Halifax Mortgage Agreement in Principle - How long to receive this?

Hi folks
At the point of making the first step into property ownership - Scary!
Our mortgage broker has gathered the personal information that he requires in order to make application on our behalf for the AIP. This is being submitted to Halifax this morning.
Being new to this game i'm wondering what is the process for this application? Is it a computer-generated yay or nay with a quick turnaround or does a human (god forbid) have a role to play in this? What sort of timescale am i looking at to get the AIP decision? Instant? A few days?
Many thanks
