Switching to the Co-operative Bank

Hi all,

I was completing the online form to switch to Co-operative Bank from my donor account created around a month ago. Almost at the end of the form, they ask you how long you had the previous current account for, and I will have to say "1 month".

Is this a problem in this particular case (Co-operative bank) or better to wait a bit more?

Thank you

  • Just for marketing, will not affect the switch.

    looks like, yes: http://www.co-operativebank.co.uk/currentaccounts/currentaccount

    [edit: WRONG! see below]
  • Are we all supposed to read the Co op current account details now?

Often a bank asks how long you had an account but that doesn't have to be the account you switch.

Do Co op offer the option to switch online now during the application process? I know I'm repeating that question but in the past you always had to phone after opening the account.

You have 4 DDs set up on the donor account?

You did apply when you were filling the form in online or you didn't, changing tense?
  • Having recently applied for an account, I can confirm that you need to phone or go into branch to initiate a switch.

There was no option to switch online during the application process.

  • ops!

In the last part of the form they were asking for sort code, account number and date of opening of another current account, but that is used for identity check not for the switch!

    Sorry, didn't realise that.

Ive applied and got notification that I've been accepted subject to final checks.
    Is this normal?

For the switching process, ive got 4 dd mandates on the account im switching but they don't debit every month. Will this stop me getting the switch bonus? I plan to deposit at least £800 each month.

No, would be my interpretation of the incentive T&Cs, specifically condition 3.3

    Would you agree?
