HSBC Advance £150 offer & 6% interest for First Direct & M&S(HSBC Bank) Customers?

Options
Good to see this HSBC Advance offer is back as I missed out applying last time.

I got a switch reward from First Direct (£100) and a £100 voucher from M&S (HSBC operated). Just making sure these will not affect or invalidate receiving the £150 bonus from HSBC, if anyone knows.

I have £2k in my bank accounts that I loop round each month to receive bonuses etc that I can use to satisfy the requirement for HSBC and have a bank account to switch with 5+ direct debits.

They haven't excluded other banks in the same (HSBC) group in the past, but the T&Cs of the latest offer will say so, if applicable this time.
  • They are still not excluding M&S and FD current/past account holders as per the new T&Cs look at footnote.
  • Having just switched my sole account away from HSBC ie. within 12 months, I am now considering opening a joint account with HSBC because their incentive offer is back on.

Will we get an incentive into our joint account if I've already been an HSBC sole account customer within the last 12months.

This is what I could find on T & C:

"Offer applies to successful applications and is limited to one per customer or joint relationship on eligible HSBC Advance Bank Accounts. You must switch using the Current Account Switch Service within 30 days of opening your account. To qualify you must not already hold an existing HSBC current account or have held one in the last 12 months."

when i read "you" must not already hold or have held one in the last 12 months does that mean sole or joint? As we have not had a joint account with HSBC do we qualify?

I read this as you cant have had any HSBC account within the last 12 months, after this you are classed as a new customer again, so if your account was switched out less then 12 months ago, they will still have record of your account on their systems and wouldn't qualify for the incentive.

Wait till 12 months are up and hope the offer is still on.

However if the other joint account applicant hasn't had an HSBC account would they then be eligible in the joint application to get that incentive? Does the fact that I've switched out less than 12 months ago on my sole mean we have to wait?
  • I'm imteresed in this offer and it would be my main bank account but my monthly pay equates to £50 less than the minimum pay in. Is it possible to just transfer a few quid to a different account then transfer it back to hsbc to make the monthly minimum pay in?

Yes. Providing it is a non HSBC account A.K.A. external account.
  • Thanks very much
  • Just wondering if i can switch a dormant First Direct account or would they not allow that?
If you change nothing, nothing will change!!
  • Keen to switch to this new HSBC account
Is the £1700 pay in for the additional £50? Or do you need to have this much going into the current account to qualify for the initial £150 aswell?
