Car been at main dealer and no answers

8 weeks ago out car broke down, AA diagnosed crank sensor, and car was recovered to main dealer. the dealership have been poor with communications waiting for us to chase it up and we understand at some point they have broken the key and immobiliser.
But 8 weeks later the official line is they " still don't know what's wrong with it and it still won't start"
They never ring us to update and I feel they are embarrassed by the situation hence why we get no calls.
Where do we stand when a dealership have your car for so long with still no idea what's wrong and no idea when we will get it back?
And what about costs as we are getting worried now about racking up uncontrollable bills?
Thanks in advance

Take it elsewhere! Sounds like the dealer is a waste of space. AA diagnosed as a crank sensor....have they actually changed the crank sensor? What error codes are stored in the ECU?
Find a good reputable independant garage an take it to them. The stealership are not providing you with any kind of service that one would expect from a garage (ie, finding tha fault and fixing it in a reasonable time).0 -
They said they replaced the crank sensor and the edu still says crank sensor, and they keep saying "what with the immobiliser issue" but i keep reminding them that they broke the key. I've seen the key and its broken, and the casing was only replaced the week before.
the thing about getting it from there is, it potentially now has other issues such as a possible immobiliser fault as they say something is not letting fuel flow through the injectors0 -
also concerned about how i would move it, given thats its an auto.
they are now telling me in the last 3 phone calls that they have asked ssangyong for help cos they have run out of ideas0 -
Also have the AA recovery sheet copy and no immobiliser fault listed on there when he did an ECU dump. just Crank Sensor0

Modern cars are difficult, sometimes even main dealers get stuck.
The last thing they want is an immobile car blocking their workshop and an irate customer.
Your AA "diagnosis" will have been done quickly at the roadside, contrary to modern belief, it is a load harder than just reading off fault codes.
Generally, cars go to the main dealers when independents can't fix them. You might need to go higher up, rather than speaking to the franchise.0 -
Ask for the service manager to contact you with details of:
What work has been done so far
What is plan for further work
Cost so far
They can involve the manufacture, you could ask for it to be taken to another dealer.
Is the car under warranty? Did you purchase the car new?
TBH after 8 days! I would be down there!0 -
