No, send it 1st class at a PO Counter and ask for a free certificate of posting. Keep that little receipt stapled to a copy of the challenge.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

as above , most parking companies refuse recorded delivery as they know why it is recorded , so you dont want proof of non-delivery

they didnt use it , because they know the law on posting legal documents

ie:- its deemed "delivered" 2 days later if by Royal Mail

if you really wanted to try it , you would do it twice , one recorded , and one with a free cert of posting , but really you only need to do the latter

I am the legal leaseholder of parking space XXXXXXXXXXX. The title deeds clearly demonstrate the areas for which my lease applies. My lease is share of freehold and is dated XXXXXXX for 999 years. I have included a copy of the title deeds for your reference.
Suggest you edit your post and mask out identifying information such as your address. It allows the parking scum to identify your case (they do trawl the forums). Are you in the Bournemouth area, home of DeVere? They are known for launching court cases and, for some reason (funny handshakes?) Bournemouth court seems to be a bit to willing to find for them.
  • Thanks, I've edited my post. I am unfortunately in Bournemouth so am a bit concerned. Before I send the letter I just wanted to check something. When I moved in I had to pay for my permit, would this count as some kind of contractual acceptance of the parking scheme? It's not something I thought about at the time.

I am a bit concerned I'm getting myself dragged into an a battle which is going to end up costing me more in the long run.

Good grief! You PAID to be allowed to park ON YOUR OWN LAND!?!? Why? You should demand your money back - when you send the permit back.

    You said

the lease outdates the private parking enforcement.

    but you also said

When I moved in I had to pay for my permit,

    Please explain.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Yes what did the actual permit scheme t&cs say? Arguably, that's the contract (not the signs) and it is very likely that the wording doesn't state the £sum (in figures) of the parking charge or the terms, nor create any obligation to also read the extra terms on any signs.
