Give your new address as your brother's address in Dublin. No keeper liability in the Republic of Ireland either.
Do not give an English address but make sure it's one where you can be sure someone is checking the post and not panicking about silly debt collector drivel (all hot air). DO NOT ring them again and do not imply who was driving.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Cheers, good idea - I have an email address for them , would you give them the Dublin address via email? or ring them up? I really haven't much clue about the law or liability !Coupon-mad wrote: »Give your new address as your brother's address in Dublin. No keeper liability in the Republic of Ireland either.

Give the Dublin address via email, not saying it's not your house of course. Just saying that your address for service of letters and any court papers, should they consider they somehow have a right to hold you liable as keeper, is:
Your name
Dublin address.
Keep a copy of the email and include a read receipt and maybe a bcc to another email account to prove it was really sent.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the reply, yeah my only concern would be if they did me for fraudulent information I might give them i.e. car registered to my English address and giving them a different address in Dublin. But I guess all I am saying is to send any letters there.
Do you think an email as simple as this would be ok?
Dear Sir / Madam,
Ref number : xxxxxxxxxx
Please send any future correspondence related to the above case to
xxxxxxxxxx Road
Drumcondra

You are at liberty to choose to use ANY address where you 'can reasonably be reached' for service of letters (or court papers which will not come because the address is a Dublin one).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks a lot for your help, I'll edit the above post, wasn't thinking when putting in the full address! The latest letter received from the debt collectors is saying they are passing this on to their client's solicitors so as far as I can see no real legal threat yet that will result in negative consequences. I will keep you posted on how it goes. Take carepappa_golf wrote: »yrs , but delete the above address to stop the likes of google linking it

Cheers, yes that's true. It's just I've never really been in a position like this before, it all has a slight "phishing" vibe to it as I actually bought a ticket for the carpark - it was a machine where you had to input your Reg number. There was no ticket on my windscreen initially to say I had a fine then a letter a month later saying I owed £100 etc and the rest! Will keep you posted, thanks againCoupon-mad wrote: »You are at liberty to choose to use ANY address where you 'can reasonably be reached' for service of letters (or court papers which will not come because the address is a Dublin one).0
