Remember also that applying for a set-aside doesn't mean it will be granted - there have to be compelling reasons for it. (e.g. the defendant didn't receive any court papers because they were sent to an incorrect address, or the defendant was in hospital or prison during that period). If the papers were correctly addressed but the defendant simply ignored them then the set-aside will likely fail.
