Debit card account

I am looking for a bank account that (preferably) offers a small amount of interest and must offer a Debit card - it must be free to run and be operatable on-line - it must be flexible enough to allow me to hold anywhere between £10k and £500 in it but no regular payments will be made in to it....
I guess that it needs to be an INSTANT ACCESS account with debit card
Does such an account exist ?

The vast majority of UK bank accounts are free, operable online, instant access and with debit cards. The ones offering interest tend to do so in return for monthly funding and/or direct debits, albeit both are easily achieved, but the Tesco current account (3%) probably has the least strings.

Except that Tesco bank requires a minimum pay in of £1k per month
I don't need to use it as a current account
I have a nationwide flex account

    No it doesn't.

You asked about bank accounts, I provided information about bank accounts, how you use them is up to you (subject to compliance with Ts & Cs of course)!

What doesn't this do that you're trying to achieve?

    ???

Where did you get that idea? You are allowed two Tesco current accounts.

Both will come with a debit card.

The interest rate is 3% on up to £3000 in each account.

No regular monthly pay in is stipulated.

You seem keen to make this harder than it ought to be! Does it say anything about paying your salary in on the application or the Ts & Cs?

Bank account applications involve credit and ID checks so you'll find the same whoever you go to - some consider this to be outrageously intrusive but we can all vote with our feet if thinking along those lines.

If you don't want to be credit checked you can open a savings account, but personally I don't know of any savings accounts with debit cards (although a few have ATM cards) and the interest is poor compared with market-leading current accounts.

What you use it as doesn't really matter, the fact is if you want a debit card the account that it goes with will be a current account, there's no getting round that as far as I'm aware. Following on from what Eskbanker has said, I have a savings account that has an ATM card (from YBS) but that's all it can be used for and the interest rate is dropping.

Yorkshire / Clydesdale Bank offer a debit card on their instant savings account.
The interest rate is pretty dire though. 0.01%

Tesco is probably a better bet.
