                    Hi,
I own a freehold property, but there is a "rent charge" in place against the whole street (I Live in Greater Manchester).
The charge has been "informally apportioned" across all of the houses on the street, so the values involved are really low, but on reviewing my title at the land registry, I have noticed this:
"This rentcharge has been informally apportioned and the land in this
title informally exonerated from the apportioned sum as mentioned in a
Conveyance of the land in this title dated 7 March 1989 made between
(1) Person and (2) Company Limited."
I've obviously changed the 1 and 2 to hide the names.
I read this as me not being liable for any of the rent charge, and was going to go back to the charge owner to tell them this.
However, I thought I would get a second opinion from the more savvy on here, as the word "informally" worried me.
Should I just pay it?
Thanks
