Hi, firstly apologies if this is in the wrong place!

Looking for a bit of advice, basically I’ve woken up this morning and gone into my living room sat down and noticed 2 or 3 flies on and around my electric fire (switched off), I didn’t think anything of and then I opened my blinds and there must have been 20-30 flies on my window. The windows had been closed for a good few days and I closed the blinds maybe Saturday night and didn’t open them until this morning, I was out from 10am yesterday until 10.30pm so went straight to bed when I got home. Anyone any idea what could have caused this? The room is clean and tidy, no food left anywhere or anything like that.

FYI I killed all the flies and opened the windows so any strays could get out… I had to come to work!

Thanks

Maybe something has died behind your electric fire...0

Yes, definitely sounds lime something has died somewhere, either a bird or field mouse most likely.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I suspect you would notice the smell if there was something dead in your house!
It could be cluster flies - they hibernate over winter in houses, and like warm places such as window frames, attics and so on, usually on the sunny side of a house.
They can be got rid of, but it involves insecticide, or much swatting with a fly swat if you want to avoid too many chemicals.
If you google cluster flies, you can get some tips on dealing with them.0 -

You wouldn't necessarily notice the smell of a dead mouse or bird, especially if it's behind something like an electric fire or in a chimney breast.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Flies don't like peppermint or lavender oil. It might be worth getting some and spraying around the room. I hate creatures!0 -
A dead mouse?0

We had an invasion of flies which came from the old chimney, behind the fire. A spray of fly spray up the chimney sorted it .0

I had around 20 or 30 flies appear on my kitchen windows about 6 months ago. I kept killing them every time I went downstairs (I work from home in an upstairs room) but more kept appearing. This lasted about 3 days and then they all disappeared as suddenly as they had appeared.0

Yup, something is an ex something. This happened to my friend, massive flies everywhere that were really slow moving (and oddly easy to swot). Seems there was a dead rat in the insulation somewhere.
Sorry!0
