I would ALSO issue the hotel chain with a Letter before action.
State you have received court papers from their parking agents despite you proving to the hotel you paid for parking.
State you will be issuing a counter claim for the value of £xxx plus £85 expenses as they have failed to instruct their agents.
Make it clear unless you hear from both parties before the deadline for filing a defence then the counter claim will be filed.
Send this by recorded delivery not e-mail to the :

This is a case where template cut and paste defences may have to be a back up, it looks like a preventable loss that was not mitigated and a contract that was not broken, beavis will actually help here if they rely upon it.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Have a look at how to "counter claim".
This is exactly why you can counter claim
I bet my hat the Hotel chain legal officer will not want to have to send a solicitor to court because they having the tail wagging the dog.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Marktheshark is 100% correct, involve the hotel chain, they will cave in. The hotel chain is in the business of providing customers with a service, not allowing them to be scammed0

It was the Manchester Raddison Blu. I have tried them again today & they said they would phone back, heard nothing yet. Just so frustrated. Thanks for the advise. I will ring again shortly and go with Marks suggestion.
Thanks for all the help so far. If I hadn't paid I would hold my hands up, but I have and not gone over or anything. So maddening.0
