    Who is running today?

No run day for me today, so all this talk of swimming has me off to the swimming pool! Not my local one, as it's awful, but a fun one about an hours drive. I am going with some friends, their children and my youngest son.
So doubt I'll get much actual exercise, but it'll still be fun!

    Have a great day everyone!

don't think I'll be running today, got loads of house jobs to catch up on and after a busy and slightly stressful week at work, I'm shattered! I'm hoping to fit one in tomorrow morning instead.
swimming might not be loads of exercise but you'll still be up and about and moving so can't be all bad!
  • First run fail today, feeling a bit deflated.

I was due to do 25 minutes non-stop today, and only managed 15. I changed my route which took me to a gate I had to stop and open, and didn't feel up to starting up again once I'd stopped. It's a balmy 24 degrees today, so hoping to give it another go tomorrow evening when it's cooler but debating starting week 6 again from scratch...

@Fletchasketch gates, roads, tight corners etc are all horrible. You have to put serious effort in each time to get back up to pace. It takes it out of you.
Although to be fair in 24 degrees its never the best to run in. I'd say just give that run another go.

  • No running for me today I will start my next week tomorrow. Busy at work next week I will be working full time most days so need to try to get childcare and fit in a couple of evening runs, will be the first time I have gone out in the evening a bit apprehensive as it means road running, I prefer to go off road to avoid people.

That's understandable, I would try that run again with your usual route and see how you get on, then if you struggle you could consider repeating the previous week.

There is a route I like to do that has a stile, well kind of there is a stile but before you get to it you also have to negotiate fly tipped sofas etc! Once past the gate it is a nice off road run past a river with nobody about. It is easy at the moment as I can make sure I get past when on a walking section but once I start running for 25minutes I will have to stop using it, thanks for the warning I wouldn't have really considered the stopping/starting it if you hadn't have pointed it out.

    Hope you had fun.

I am unsure what to do about the swimming its £4 a time, I don't really want to be paying that every week as it also costs an extra £2 to park as we are in the pool longer. I think I will go every couple of weeks. I also want to look to see if can find a pay as you go gym nearby that will allow 9 years old in.

Did my second go of Week3 earlier. Managed to do it again even though I haven't run since Tuesday (too tired after work on Thurs - I do a very physical job, and having been up and down ladders all day my legs were just sooo tired!)

I think I'll need to keep on week3 for a few goes longer than I should though, three mins is very hard right now!

Great breathing advice though, I really 'puffed' my breath even when I didn't need to, and did feel better for it.

    Good luck everyone!

Fletchasketch - 15 mins is still great! I think you should try it again on your other route, and if it's still a no-go then maybe repeat the previous week again? It is hard pushing yourself. The advantage of the treadmill is it keeps you on pace and there are no gates!

  • As I am on my own this weekend I wanted to do something but not run as as did that yesterday and will go out tomorrow so I went for a walk and tried the Zomies run app, it made the time go quicker definitely something I will use once I complete the C25K.

    Well done all
Fletch 15 minutes is still really good and far more than I'm sure you imagined 6 or 7 weeks ago

Thanks for the breathing tips - maybe should have read them before I went for a run today

Finished week 4 today - whoop!!!!

Ended up adding (wide) stairs in today as went a way that goes over a overpass - while running up was rubbish I loved running down - all you can think is about where your foot needs to land, which made it easier.

My second 5 minute stint I also achieved a point where I realised about the 4 minute mark that I actually was enjoying it - unfortunately about 30 seconds after thinking that I changed my mind
  • Morning :) Who is running today?

I spent 4 hours in the swimming pool yesterday and managed to get some laps in, so felt good about that.

Fletch- i would just repeat that run whenever you are next due to run. Running a new route always throws me off a bit, and i hate having to stop to cross roads etc as it seems so hard to get going again, so dont give yourself too hard a time :)

Claire- well done for finishing week 4!! Especially adding steps in, wow!

iammumtoone- i am thinking about doing to Zombies, Run! app too, as the adverts for it look so good!

I am having a well deserved rest day today.
