Quarterly bills
Hi
Trying to switch energy supplier for an aged P.
The problem is she wants to receive quarterly paper bills and pay at the bank on receipt. I can't seem to find a supplier who does this
Does any one have dealings with a supplier that still does this, and doesn't charge a huge premium for the service?
Thanks

Hi, certainly there are suppliers who still do this but they will all charge a premium, I imagine, if only because she will not get the direct debit discount. What is her objection to this? It is just the same as paying at the bank, after all, without having to go there. If it is the internet she cannot deal with, that is understandable but surely you or someone else she trusts could manage the account for her/print off her bill four times a year?
If she will not be swayed, is there no-one she trusts sufficiently to pay them with cash or a cheque each quarter so they can set up the DD on her behalf? I don't think it has to be the account holder who pays the bill but someone will be along in a bit who knows for sure. HTH.0 -
I was with Brit Gas for years, and always paid quarterly into the bank. Then they brought in the standing charges and I didn't want to pay that, so I swapped to Ebico, almost three years ago. I still pay quarterly into the bank because they don't charge a penalty for it, also no standing charges to pay. Ebico only works for low users though like me, because there is a slightly higher price per kw hour. My bills are almost the same now as they were three years ago. If your aged p likes the heat on all winter this may not be for them. I am a fit not so aged 67 year old pensioner and I don't like hot houses.

There are plenty of quarterly billing options.
You will pay a premium, but thats the small price for not having to pay for energy until weeks after you have used it.0 -
@raddy59
The Citizens Advice Bureau comparison site allows you to select quarterly billing and then you just select the ones that offer paper bills from the results page.
It also warns how much you can save money by changing to Direct Debits, just in case you made a wrong selection in the questions or were unaware.

Consult a comparison site to find the best deal for you.
Most comparison sites allow you to filter output. e.g. Using Martin's favourite comparison site, Energyhelpline, (Well at least it used to be before he found he could make money recommending his own) allows you to filter results to 'Pay on Receipt of Bill'.
(Then, just double check the supplier/tariff you select actually meats all your criteria e.g. not paperess billing, etc)
Using a comparison site recommended by MSE also allows for possible cashback (when you go via the special MSE links) :money:0
