Yourfurniture.co.uk poor delivery

Today I had the misfortune of waiting all morning for the delivery of a Coffee Table that I had ordered from Yourfurniture.co.uk

It finally arrived on a Fed-ex transit at about 1:30pm as two parcels. as the driver approached the gate I could here the shifting of smashed glass in the box, as soon as he handed me the box, I could tell that the glass table top had been smashed within the packaging.

I asked the driver to not bother bringing me the second box (2 of 2 which contained the base of the table) as I was refusing delivery of the goods.

The driver agreed with me that the contents of the first box were smashed. I offered to open the box to confrim, but th driver asked me not to as the shards would go everywhere.

I signed a the delivery note stating "Goods refused contents damaged" and the packages were taken away by the driver.

The glass was totally inadequately packed (it seems between two pieces of polystyrene and wrapped in corrugated card offering no structural support to the sheet during transit) I think it would be very wrong for the company to blame the courier for the damage since the packaging was so flimsy.

I have tried calling the company to discuss how they propose to remedy the situation however no one will answer the phone, I have tried at least twelve times throughout the day. I have left two voicemails and had no response. I have also sent an email explaining my actions and requesting that someone phone me to no avail.

I am annoyed at the fact that the companies inadequate packaging, may potentially mean that I have to take a further day off work to take delivery of the goods. I have no family that can accept re-delivery and the neighbours are usually all at work, to top things off I have no holidays left, so any leave would have to be unpaid. The fact that I can't speak to anyone winds me up further, the company also charge premium for weekend deliveries.

I also don't feel its fair that I should have to wait anymore than a few days to have the goods adequately replaced, since one of the reasons for using this company was there promise of next day delivery.

The goods amounted to £202 and were paid for by credit card.

Does anyone have any advise? (sorry for the long post)
