Floor Tiling

Hi all,
We have a large area to be tiled (approx 88 sqm) and have been quoted £3200 to tile this area by someone our builder has recommended. We have bought all the tiles (600x600) and grout. The tiler has bought the adhesive.
This is working out around £36 per sqm which seems rather a lot seeing as the tiler is only going to be working for around 5 days. Does this seem accurate? We live in the south east.
Thanks

Nope 1 tiler....0

If it's a 11 x 8 square It's still not a 5 day job
600 x 600 will be porcelain , your substrate must be dead flat so I would expect some prep work ie overlay or screed
£30-£40 is the norm per sqmHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Overlay has already been done so the price is literally to put the tiles down. Yes they are porcelain tiles.0

The price is fair
88sqm on thick bed premium flexi adhesive is easily 22 bags of adhesive £600
if your not happy get another local priceHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
so £2500 for 5 days work? I know tiling is a skill, is hard work and you're responsible for someone elses house and expensive tiles but that's some good earnings even so, and equates to £100k + per year.... sorry, seems a lot to me0

Having worked in this field for 20yrs 88sqm is not 5 days work. More like 8-10
Most tilers will also have a labourer to mix and cut
It's a quote, if your not happy move on and get others . Your not just paying for time, your paying for a skillHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
I think its like anything, you are paying for the skill as much as the time.
You haven't said how much the tiles cost but if they are expensive and they are put down anything less than perfectly then you will notice it every time you walk in the room.
I will always try and save money but for some things I will select the one I think will have the best finish if its something I am looking at for the next 30 years.....0
