Ok, so what do they do with the bank statement? Are they going to go through it with a fine tooth comb, pick it apart and interrogate me? I transfered £1000 in (emptied my ISA account) are they then going to want to see that account statement too, and so on?!

For the record, I've signed in many times over the years and I've NEVER had this.

Also, it's a royal pain in the !!! because my bank do not have a branch in my town.

    One can only hope so...

    What are you insinuating?

That the DWP do their job properly to ensure that nobody is claiming fraudulently.

Nope, your trying to subtlety imply I'm a benefit cheat. Basically trolling but you might as well be open about it, call a spade a spade you know?

It needs to be a full, non black markered(!) statement. The staff won't care what you're doing with your money as long as you're not transferring it out to deprive yourself of capital.

Are there no rules on depravation of capital...

If I thought you were a benefit cheat I would say so - as a new member, you obviously don't know me very well!;)

I didnt read into it like that but its natural that you will be defensive.

It is what it is, no point going over it, you've been told that you need to hand in a bank statement, there is no way around it.

TBH I feel a little better knowing that peoples income/capital is being checked before they are given a portion of our tax money.

Last time I had to show bank statements, there were a lot of small payments in. I wrote against each one where it had come from: son's birthday from family / Easter from family etc etc etc.

With an ISA transfer I'd get the final ISA statement as well, to save time ...
Signature removed for peace of mind

Why would you ask a question if you're immediately going to tell the person they were wrong about their own motives and thought processes?

    And it's you're, not your.

For the record, they request bank staments from EVERYONE who claims,

They didn't ask me to provide a bank statement for my recent claim.
