Ok so we sold our house for a fab price 2k over the asking which we were so happy with as our heart just isn't in this house fast forward 12 weeks we are a week from exchange and the woman we are buying off has threatened to pull out if we don't change our dates again. Now our buyer wants us out as our sale was ready about 4 weeks ago. My question is if we end up losing the house we are moving too (I have told her I am happy to complete when she wants but I want exchange ASAP) would you still sell and maybe move to rented till you find something if you knew your house had sold for a good price and just sit on your deposit for a while? What will I need to pay the solicitors if the purchase falls through

This happened to us. Similar anyway. We had a pair of fantastic buyers who we didn't want to lose. We were buying a house that had been renovated & was sitting empty, but a friend of a friend came along and offered them cash, so they pulled the house from under us
We didn't want to lose our buyers (we'd lost 2 sets already) so we're now in rented. Beware though, if the market changes or stalls (as it did for us pre-Brexit), you may be in rented for longer than you would like. We moved here in December, and are currently in the process of buying for the 3rd time.... On the up side, we are ideal buyers, large deposit & nothing to sell! Lots of luck. If you have good thoughts, they'll shine out of your face like sunbeams & you'll always look lovely.0 -
You need to know from your buyer what her preferred exchange date is? Is it a postponement of 2 weeks or 2 months or ??
If its only a couple of weeks then you might be able to hold onto your purchase; if its longer, then renting might be necessary0 -
It's two weeks but what I've offered is I'm happy to wait to complete but I want to exchange on the same day as proposed is that unreasonable? X0
