Car insurance renewal quote

Hi Everyone,
It's that time of year I need to find car insurance again. My renewal quote from Tesco is £488, about £50 higher than last year...so I've been on the comparison websites.
On confused.com I've been quoted £283 by...Tesco!
My question is, if I ring Tesco and say I don't want to renew, am I then able to purchase the insurance via confused.com?
I can't find anything saying I can't but I'm worried there's something I've missed.
Any help or advice is much appreciated.
Emma

I would ring up Tesco and tell them that the price you found on the comparison site and that you want to renew at this price. I have done this with other insurance companies with no problems.0

I never accept renewals on car or house insurance. I shop around every year and take a new policy. Sometimes end up back with the same company and never fails to satisfy when I call to cancel renewal and they said 'do you mind if I ask who you went with' and you say you. Absolutely nothing wrong with this, and no issues over sending proof of no claims etc. Basically, people accepting the renewal are paying for others to be given a discount.0
