Cat flea treatment question

I gave my cat his spot-on flea treatment earlier this evening and he immediately stormed off out the catflap as he always does after being subjected to such an outrageous ordeal.
It's been raining torrentially here this evening and it's occurred to me that the formula might have washed off.
Does anyone know how long it takes to be absorbed in to the bloodstream?
He came back in an hour later sopping wet and I towel dried him off which might have rubbed even more of it off

It should mention something about not bathing an animal for so so so hurs after the treatment so perhaps this may be useful - if you check the packaging?0
