Mortgage after IVA

Options
I entered into an IVA in 2012 and settled it early in 2014. Now we're looking to move house asap so will need a new mortgage, aiming for 2018 when the IVA disappears from my credit file.

Current situation is no debt, mortgage up to date and never had any issues with it. Have mobile phone contract and things like utility bills all on direct debit. I'm wondering if a sub-prime credit card (paid off every month) would help with my credit file or whether it would do more harm than good. Would I even be accepted for one before the 6 years are up?

I'm sure having a good payment history on a credit card won't do any harm. If you go to Capital Ones website they have a quick check. It will tell you how likely you are to get a card before going through a full credit check.
