    Totally incorrect.
    Not only is the insurance company entitled to charge an administration fee to cover their costs, they can also charge for the time that cover was being provided under that policy.

    Though slightly different to this, I have had my insurer previously allow me to overlap the insurance on my old and new cars for a couple of weeks til I sold the old one.
